It makes me roar to hear a very skinny woman say how much she just loves her curves.  While she may indeed love them, there are far less curves on her than there are on a supposed “fat” girl or what society views as someone who is overweight. I’m not saying that skinny chicks have no curves or that they are ugly or that they are not accepted because everyone knows they are much more socially accepted than us “big, fun chicks” are.  What I am saying is that, no matter who you are, what size clothing you wear, how big or skinny or flat chested or big busted or how much junk you do or don’t have in your trunk, the one thing you want is to love your body. 

To stop the hate on our bodies is a lifelong journey that some, realistically, will never achieve.  Does this make you sad?  There is nothing I want more with regards to my body than to stop loathing problematic areas: “My stomach is getting fatter”, “Look at the red stretch marks around my belly button”, “If I look like this now when I haven’t had children yet, imagine what I’ll look like when I do!”, “My thighs are huge”, “My face is too fat”.  We all do it and it feels impossible to stop or to even accept when someone sends a compliment our way.  It’s not so easy as to be selected for “How To Look Good Naked” where you get an ultimate confidence boost at the end.

We are all real women.  We are not ugly, plain, dumpy, hideous, lumpy or gross.  Just because we don’t fit in size 0 jeans does not mean we are not beautiful.  Even if we don’t always see it, we are beautiful. 

Have you ever been nervous to go someplace because you thought they might whisper behind your back about how you seem like a nice person but “Oh my dear, she is fat!” ?  Or perhaps you are very self-conscious about your appearance and always think someone will be talking about you.  Regardless, I know that it is not a good feeling.  I am guilty of feeling this way, and it is a very difficult thing to put into perspective and deal with.

So what if they think you’re fat?  It doesn’t mean they don’t like you, or wont want to get to know you or that you are a bad person. Fat men and women aren’t the only ones who are being whispered about.  Haven’t you ever heard people say, “Look at that girl! She’s nothing but a bag of bones. That is hideous!”.  No matter what your body shape is, whatever your weight is, people will always have something to say about you because some people have nothing better to talk about than someone else’s business.

To those people, you need to look them in the eye and tell them exactly what you think. Tell them they are no better than you, and tell them they have no right to pass judgement on you.  No one can tell you who you should be or what you should look like, and no one has the right to make someone feel ugly.  Fat is not ugly, people.  We all have to realize this.
